London-based rock-pop singer-songwriter Abi Mia recently sat down with ai love music to talk about her music, her inspirations, her future plans, and the release of her latest single “Enough Is Enough”. Find out what kind of anthem “Enough Is Enough” is and what Abi Mia hopes listeners will remember the most after listening. Take a listen to Mia’s single down below and let me know what you think in the comments!
First of all, please introduce yourself? How did you get into music?
Hi, my name is Abi Mia singer-songwriter from London, UK. Music has been a much-loved hobby for most of my life but I only started taking it seriously as a career at the beginning of the first lockdown in March 2020. Up till then, I had been working full time running my own personal training business but due to the various restrictions suddenly found I had a lot of free time! This gave me the kick I needed to get back into songwriting and singing and reminded me that it really is my true passion and that I want to pursue it as a full-time career.
I am very grateful that I had this opportunity to ‘pause’ as I hadn’t been doing any music at all for years and I am very much looking forward to where this year is going to take me!
What musical genres or artists inspire you?
I have been inspired by many genres and artists over my life. When I was younger I listened to a lot of musical theatre and Disney which I believe do sometimes show through in my music Currently, I mainly listen to pop – I try to listen to as many different artists as possible so I can keep my music varied and interesting to listen to! I am very inspired by strong vocalists and artists with great messages and emotion in their music such as Demi Lovato, Alicia Keys, Kelly Clarkson, Adele, and Amy Lee.

How has being a new artist during the pandemic been?
It has been great actually! I feel like it has given me a chance to build an online following, to create, record, and release new music online and to generally learn more about the industry so I feel ready to get out there when things open up!
There is definitely a lot to learn about being an artist in general and I have made many great connections with other musicians on Instagram and try and learn for those who are more experienced than me! I feel I am lucky to have started now as I have been able to take the time to build good foundations to work from when I can start performing live! I can’t wait to perform face to face!
Let’s talk about your latest single “Enough is Enough”. What is it about?
I wrote ‘Enough is Enough’ very quickly. I had been inspired by some unjust events going on last year (apart from the pandemic) both globally and more locally to my own experiences. This song is an anthem with a powerful message to get out of our own way and stand up for what is right. It is so easy to get wrapped up in our own lives and ignore things going on around us. This song is saying ‘Enough is Enough…time to admit what the truth is’. We have to actively change the world for the better not just passively watch as unjust things take place. The song is meant to empower and pull people to take action!
How was producing this song? What was the process like?
It was a fantastic process with this song. I had a very clear vision for what I wanted this song to sound like and working with my fantastic producer Noah from The Online Recording Studios we managed to very quickly build the mood of the song! I have been recording vocals and piano from home due to the pandemic so it is definitely a fun hands-on process and I was really proud of the end result!
What is the most important point in “Enough is Enough”?
For me the message of the song is most important and the overall mood. Really listening to the lyrics especially in the Chorus and bridge should really get across the message of the song that we need to stand up for what is right! I also love the electric guitar in the production and the energy this gives to emphasis the importance of this message and really reinforces the anthem mood of the song!
What do you want people to listen to in your music?
I would love people to connect with the messages and relate to the emotions in my music. For me, music is such a great way to connect with people from all walks of life! No barriers! I would also love people to enjoy the strong vocals too – as a singer it is very important to me to really vocally be appreciated too!
What are your future plans?
I will continue releasing music throughout the year, hopefully working toward an EP later in the year! I also can’t wait to start performing as much as possible in front of live audiences as this is such a thrilling feeling to me as a musician. I would love to be able to do a UK tour later this year or early next year as well! A lot of it depends on how quickly restrictions are lifted.
Longer-term I would love to have my songs in films, adverts sung by big artists as well as becoming a well-known, respected performer in my own right – hopefully being able to do a world tour in stadiums one day! Got to aim high! In order to make this happen, I will continue working hard, developing and learning new skills. I know that it is so important to put the work in the long term and I fully intend to do this!
Finally, do you have any messages for the readers of ai love music?
My message is to be unapologetically yourself – I spent too long not going for my dreams because of what I assumed others might think. Find out what your strengths are and use them to create a path in life that works for you! Don’t live a certain way due to others’ expectations of you. At the end of the day, you are the one in control and you can make things happen! Of course, be respectful to others around you and don’t hurt others on your way – work hard and it will pay off!
