It’s the end of April and we have about three weeks to go to the annual Eurovision contest. It will happen next month. Get excited! Though the contest was canceled last year and faces strict protocols due to the current pandemic, we can still enjoy this international contest from anywhere in the world.
Each day, I will feature a song from one of the countries that are in this year’s Eurovision. Like 2019, I will make my own predictions of who will make it to the finals and maybe win the competition. Good luck to those who are competing!
Blind Channel’s “Dark Side”
“Dark Side” is a song that’s meant to be performed together with an audience, as a kind of communal experience. Now we needed to find that audience – and we knew that there were lots of people out there who felt exactly like we did.

Blind Channel’s “Dark Side” is representing Finland in this year’s Eurovision competition. Described as a violent pop tune, I quite love “Dark Side”. It reminds me of a Linkin’ Park song in the 00s: melodic, catchy, and a bopper. I love everything about it: the violent element, the infectious melodies, the pop punk/dark tone, the range of the vocals. With these factors, “Dark Side” will sure to make it to the finals as it really charmed my high school pop-punk heart.

We need more pop punk music, there’s just something about this genre that makes you want to scream out loud the lyrics and dance wildly to the beat haha
