Road to Eurovision 2021: Natalia Gordienko (Moldova)

It’s mid-April and we have about a month to go till the annual Eurovision contest. It will happen next month. Get excited! Though the contest was canceled last year and faces strict protocols due to the current pandemic, we can still enjoy this international contest from anywhere in the world.

Each day, I will feature a song from one of the countries that are in this year’s Eurovision. Like 2019, I will make my own predictions of who will make it to the finals and maybe win the competition. Good luck to those who are competing!

Natalia Gordienko’s “Sugar”

“Sugar” by Natalia Gordienko is representing Moldova in this year’s Eurovision competition. At the first beat, this song reminds you of a Britney Spears song. It’s sexy, saucy, and down-right catchy. Of course, ym favorite part is when she sings the bit “talk, talk, talk”, I love how that progress goes. Of course, the lyrics match with the mood of the instrumentation and melody as the song talks about desire (which sugar is a metaphor for).

“Sugar” is such a catchy and saucy song that will have listeners dance to. It features melodies and progress that are so delicious that you will want to listen over and over. For these reasons, “Sugar” will go to the finals!

Trivia: Natalia Gordienko previously appeared at the Eurovision competition in 2006 alongside Arsenie and Connect-R with the song “Loca“.
