Road to Eurovision 2021: Tornike Kipiani (Georgia)

It’s mid-April and we have about a month to go till the annual Eurovision contest. It will happen next month. Get excited! Though the contest was canceled last year and faces strict protocols due to the current pandemic, we can still enjoy this international contest from anywhere in the world.

Each day, I will feature a song from one of the countries that are in this year’s Eurovision. Like 2019, I will make my own predictions of who will make it to the finals and maybe win the competition. Good luck to those who are competing!

Tornike Kipiani’s “You”

Tornike Kipiani‘s “You” is representing Georgia in this year’s Eurovision competition. This song is currently at the very bottom of everyone’s predictions, including for me, because this song is so bland. It is almost difficult to finish this song. The instrumentation is very beautiful as it creates a lavish cinematic soundscape, especially with the acoustic guitar in the beginning. But, it is Kipiani’s vocals that make it hard to listen to “You”. it is so rough and boring. Even with the double vocals effect going on in some parts of the song, it doesn’t help him out but hurts him.

The lyrics are also too basic and bland as it just sings the same concept over and over again. Because of its uneven vocals and boring lyrics/melody, Tornike Kipiani’s “You” will not make it to the finals.
