First of all, could you introduce yourself?

Hey everyone! Thanks for taking the time to get to know me and my music. My name is Karli June. I am an up-and-coming country artist from a small town in Ontario, Canada.

How did you get into music? How has your musical journey been?

I didn’t come from a musical family but my dad often played music around the farm I grew up on. I really admired the way it could make work pass by a little quicker (and made it so much more fun). I then started singing in church and discovered how music could really impact people — and that’s where I fell in love with it! It’s been a wonderful journey so far…  I am trying to soak it all in but I am SO excited for all of the new music coming.

You have worked with so many people in the music industry. How has that been? What was the most important lesson you have learned from them?

Well, I am so grateful for every person who has taken the time to work with me. I understand it is a huge investment when another writer or producer takes the time to work with you! I really am so thankful for that.  The most important lesson I’ve learned is to make sure my music is true to who I am. We all have a story to tell, and it’s important to embrace that truthfully and honestly in the music. I think that’s a journey in itself but I am proud of how far I’ve come.

Let’s talk about “Home Team”. What is it about?

“Home Team” was inspired by all of the people in my life who have stuck with me through the ups and downs. It’s a thank you and a celebration of them!! I hope everyone who listens to it feels their people in the song. It’s such a fun one but also means a lot!

What was the production of the song like? Was there something you specifically wanted to highlight while recording this song?

When my producer Karen heard the title, she instantly played around with the production and worked to make the song sound like a marching band in a sports stadium. I thought that was so perfect — and we worked the rest of the melodies around that feeling!

You worked with Tori Tullier and Karen Kosowski on this song. What was that like?

It was so much fun. It was my first time writing with them! I came in with the title “Home Team” but they truly made it come to life! I really felt right away this was going to be a special song.

What do you want the audience to listen to in your music?

It’s my hope that the songs relate to their lives. Especially in the past year we haven’t been able to be with our loved ones — I hope this song makes them feel a little bit closer! But with all of the music, I hope it leaves them feeling joy.

What are your future plans?

Next step… my first album!!! That should be coming late this year. I am truly so excited about it! I think it is our best work yet.

Lastly, do you have any messages for the readers of ai love music?

Thank you so much for taking the time to check out the song- I would love for you to follow along on social media and I hope one day I will get to meet you all at a show! Thanks for having me on!
