Today’s Daily Feature is “Don’t Settle for the Pain” by Australian Indie Rock band Mermaid Avenue. This track examines pain and how we deal with it in our lives. The lyrics were written in such a way where a father shares his experiences on this subject with his son. The father then gives the son this advice to keep living life in a positive way: Life is calling you, Don’t settle for the pain.
“Don’t Settle for Pain” features melodic twists and turns that are overlaid with the driven guitar riffs and banging drums. Elements of 90s rock are present in this track from the lustrous vocals to the emotionally-driven instrumentation. But don’t listen for the peaks in the sound: first starting off soft, and then building up until it sonically explodes with intensity. This tune by Mermaid Avenue is filled with such emotions and passion through its melodic grit, tellable lyrics, and soft yet firey soundscape.
If you are a fan of such bands as Wilco, Drive-By Truckers, REM, Tom Petty, Powderfinger, then you will love “Don’t Settle for Pain”.

With 5 great new songs tracked (and many more to come) the band is keen to get their music back out there.
