The Mid-Week Pickup for May 11, 2022

“It’s Been a Long Time” by George Collins Band

“It’s a guitar-driven, blues-rock lament of lost love”

“Put It Down” by Grocer

“Put It Down” is the second track from Grocer’s sophomore LP, Numbers Game, out May 6th, 2022. It was written by founding member Danielle Lovier (bass/vocals) and the lyrics touch on society’s addiction to smartphones and social media.

“All The Sweet Tattooed Girls…” by Venator

“This song is about one of the most intense feelings I’ve ever had for another person and everything that became of it, written as a ballad within a confession within a dream within a ballad. An ode to R&B from the 80s, 90s, 00s, and 10s, All The Sweet Tattooed Girls… is a foliar, synthy, vapor-infused crossroads of the sensuality, smoothness, and romance of these eras, bathed in moonlight and a eucalypts aroma, drawn out to an explosive, euphoric conclusion.” — Venator

“Starlight Boy” by Starlight Boy

“This is a retro synth-wave song about a chance meeting of two lovers among millions of neon lights in a rainy city.” — Starlight Boy

“Fisheye Moonshine” by AUDISOUP

Fun Indie Rock Song. Music inspired by Johnny Marr, Lyrics inspired by Two Buck Chuck, Dog Sitting, and The Basement Tapes by Bob Dylan and The Band

“Hungover On You” by Copperhead Jones

Upbeat Texas Country song reflecting on good times with an ex and heartbreak.

“Face” by Nieri

“”Face” by Nieri features a glossy, the ’80s inspired production with punching industrial drums and stuttering synths. Nieri sings about wanting to look perfect and finds himself “caught up in the fever” of cosmetic procedures synonymous with the LA Lifestyle”

“Beyond the Portal” by Francesco Pirrone

“Short piece for piano and orchestra set in a fantasy/sci-fantasy scenario. This track describes an interdimensional journey to an unspecified reality.” — Francesco Pirrone

“Desert Rose” by Maurya Sevak

The release is a cover of the 1999 hit song by Sting, reimagined for today’s music festival-loving audiences. The 2022 rework is by the electronic dance music (EDM) DJ and producer, the progressive-house artist, Maurya Sevak. Sevak’s cover song is sure to be a hit, and just in time for the summer of 2022.

Mystery. Romance. Riches. The images conjured by Sting’s 1999 hit song, “Desert Rose, are still poignant 23 years after the original song’s release. Deftly reworked in 2022 by the aspiring electronic dance music artist, DJ, and producer, Maurya Sevak, “Desert Rose” once again leaps into the collective consciousness. Maurya Sevak’s cover, “Desert Rose,” is out now.

“I Don’t Want To Go Home” by Loud Forest

“Entitled “I Don’t Want To Go Home”, the track is an anthem for those of us who didn’t always feel like we belonged. The song is a confrontation of two emotions; one can be heard in the verses – it’s anger, anger for feeling trapped, controlled, and hurt. The other emotion is a sparkling exuberance that can be heard in the choruses. There is a release and excitement that comes in finding your youthful identity with friends and freedom.” — Loud Forest

BONUS: “Relax” by Adrian

Has general indie/alternative vibes. Inspiration for some of the sounds ranges from tame impala to gorillas mainly.
