Happy #SongLyricsSunday! I hope you had a great Christmas if you celebrated it. This is the last #SLS for the year 2021. The theme for this week’s prompt is to find a song with lyrics or in the title with the words “Anger”, “Frustration”, “Furious”, “Irritated”, “Mad”, “Provoked”, and “Revenge”, When I suggest this prompt to Jim Adams (the host), I only had one song in mind: “Moon Revenge” by Peach Hips from my all^time favorite anime series Sailor Moon.
I have mentioned the songs “Muma no Odori” and “Ai Yori Houseki Kaguya Shima” from the musical before on this blog, but not a song from the original 90s anime series. Now I have with my favorite. Let’s explore “Moon Revenge” more down below!
It’s Moon Revenge, Woo…

Like most Sailor Moon songs that I have mentioned before (for anime or musical), “Moon Revenge” is written by Kayoko Fuyumori and composed by Akiko Kosaka. Kayoko Fuyumori wrote most of the lyrics for the Sailor Moon musicals until her death in 2003. Composer Akiko Kosaka wrote many songs for the Sailor Moon musicals until the 2005 hiatus. She holds special concerts from time to time in Tokyo, reuniting with several actresses and actors from the original run of the musicals.

This high-paced, pop-ish 90s anime song was used in a crucial scene during the Sailor Moon R movie (which is my favorite out of the five that have been released). The lyrics may seem to be a tad cynical, but it is sung with a catchy melody. The instrumentation also packs a punch with its high-energy, intricate melodies.
I have loved “Moon Revenge” since I first watched the Sailor Moon R movie in 2000 (when it came out in the US) as it is super-catchy, upbeat, and I love singing along to that chorus. I just loved lyrics like “That kiss of mine is a red tattoo, A carved notice of destiny, that tattoo”. It seems so spellbinding (maybe because of the melodies supporting the lyrics).
How about you? What do you think of “Moon Revenge”? Listen below and let me know what you think in the comments!

Lyrics for “Moon Revenge”
Here is the English translation for “Moon Revenge, thanks to Michelle Bacon at www.sailormusic/net:
Finally, I have made it here, I grasp onto love
The man who rests in a light sleep
On your closed eyes, I kiss you goodbye
In the garden of time, I left you behind
Love will not go on if it is just in our dreams
When my desire is strong, even a beautiful corpse will do
If you wish for it, then chase after me
That kiss of mine is a red tattoo
A carved notice of destiny, that tattoo
For me I call tell with a single glance
In the shape of my lips, that painful tattoo
You cannot hide it
It’s Moon Revenge, woo…
Even if we are trapped in darkness, you enchant me
Your aura can’t be erased, it will not falter
Seeing through our farewell, I was burning inside
I would like the next one I meet to be you again
The deeper that our love gets, the more of it I want
I want to tie down your sighs, even if it’s unreasonable
The swirls of the light are rising up high
The red memories are a poisoned tattoo
Showing the chaos of the future, a tattoo
When we are together, till we’re broken apart
In the shape of my lips, a painful tattoo
You can go on holding me
It’s Moon Revenge, woo…
If you wish for it, then chase after me
That kiss of mine is a red tattoo
A carved notice of destiny, that tattoo
For me I call tell with a single glance
In the shape of my lips, that painful tattoo
You cannot hide it
It’s Moon Revenge, woo…
