Moving to Music With the Liebster Award

Welcome to another Music Moves Me Post. Today is very special as I am going to mention about the Liebster Award, which I got from Ashli and Eric at You, Me and Benny about two months ago!

Check out my music pick for this week and my answer to their questions below the cut!

Here are the rules for receiving and giving the Liebster Award:

  • Thank the nominator and link to their blog.
  • Answer the 11 questions they asked.
  • Come up with 11 new questions.
  • Nominate 11 bloggers for the award.

My Answers!

What is one thing you do during the day that you wouldn’t be able to go a day without doing?

Taking a bath. I need to take a bath each day with my bath herbs. It is the time of day where I can relax, take a breather, and refresh. I actually think that a nice hot bath makes my skin cleaner, my hair softer, and releases me from the gunk inside my body.

And sometimes I sing in the bathtub.

Who is your favorite Actor and Actress?

All-time? It has been Audrey Hepburn. She is such a goddess. I have to say my favorite movie with Hepburn is My Fair Lady. I love that movie so much because of how Hepburn acts out the Elsa character.

Even though Marni Nixon sang mostly for Hepburn in this song, there are some parts where Hepburn was really singing! Which lines were they?

If you could only sing one song for the rest of your life what would it be?

This is a HARD one because there are so many good songs! If I had to pick JUST one, it would be The Police’s “I Burn For You” as it is a very pretty song and I love singing this song. (I wrote about this song more in-depth last month in this blog post, check that out!)

If you were granted three wishes by a genie what would they be?

Hmmmm, they would be: Give me more vacation time, give me an unlimited supply of Starbucks chai tea (I know it is so bad but it is sooo good), and unlimited access every song in the universe.

Do you have a favorite number? If so, what is it and why?

23! Because my birthday is on May 23!

What’s one thing we would be surprised to know about you?

That I actually practice Tae Kwon Do. A lot of people are surprised that a sweet, nice girl like me takes martial arts classes. However, I been practicing Tae Kwon Do since I was in college. I really loved martial arts since I was little (thanks to Power Rangers) and have studied various types of martial arts: kendo, karate, and others.

There are many styles of Tae Kwon Do but the two most prominent are International Taekwon-Do Federation (ITF) and World Taekwon-Do (WT). I studied ITF when I was living in the States but when I moved to Japan, I had go back to white belt as the school I am studying at deals with WT, which are totally different.

Is this cute? We might have to make this the official song at the school I study at!

Are you an only child or do you have siblings?

I have siblings! I am the oldest (長女 or choujo) followed by a brother (長男 or chounan) who is 15 months younger than me. Then, I have a sister (次女・二女 or jijo) who is 9 years younger than me and is still in college.

What’s your favorite color?

I love light blue (水色 or mizuiro) because it reminds of the water. I love the ocean and I love swimming. So, light blue is my color!

One of my favorite songs from the late Yukiko Okada. It’s such a beautiful song!

What are your top 3 favorite books of all time?

They would be The Princess Bride, The Princess Diaries, and The Ring. Ahaha, you probably saying to yourself, What the heck? The Ring is an oddity in this list! The reason why I love The Ring is the same reason why I like Carrie: I love the human side of the “monster”. I hate how Hollywood paints the “monster” or the villain of the story to be this thing that just wants to kill or terrorize people. Yes, Sadako did kill to get vengeance but her backstory is quite sad and paints Sadako in a different light than her movie counterpart.

Overall, I like these types of genres: coming to age, well-crafted horror, biography (especially about musicians and how they make songs), royalty, history, fantasy, and romance. If you know any good books, I am willing to read any recommendations!

This was the main theme for the first Ringu movie — HIIH’s “feels like `HEAVEN`”

If you could have one superpower what would it be?

I would stop time. Because I could get more time that way!

I always wanted to be Sailor Moon but having Sailor Pluto’s forbidden power of stopping time would be cool.

Do you have any pets? If so, what are they?

I am not allowed to have pets as I live in an apartment building where the rules say no pets. It is sad but it is for the best as I have extreme allergies to cats and dogs (more cats than dogs). I also have a ton of stuffed animals to keep me company. You are never too old for them!

Me with my stuffed buffalo named Bucky. I had him since I was a little one!

Hi Amy. Nice to meet you. I’m just coming back to the 4M group after taking a few months off from blogging and it’s neat to come back and see so many new members here. Looking forward to getting to know you.

As for your post: What fun! I love how you incorporated songs relating to your Liebster award answers! That was really cool. My favorite song here is one that takes me back to the summer of 1979, one of those life-changing summers: Sister Sledge’s “We Are Family” just makes my heart sing and always brings a smile to my face when I hear it….and a yearning to turn time back. What a summer that was. “We Are Family ” was playing a lot back then.

I also really got into hearing the Go Go’s again!

I loved the introduction to all the new-to-me music! “23” was a fun song.

This was a really fun post and I enjoyed getting to know about you through your answers and your song choices. Have a great weekend,

    Michele at Angels Bark

Cool collection of videos. Don’t we all wish we could stop time? I enjoy the blending of cultures here. Music really does bring us together. The very first song was so much fun! Moving onward to the culture I grew up in, Audrey Hepburn had such an interesting life – she is a heroine of mine and this is a song from my childhood. I am familiar with the Police but not with this song. And, truly, we all are Family. Thank you for this glimpse into who you are.

I’m extremely inspired with your writing abilities as neatly as with the layout for your weblog. Is this a paid topic or did you modify it yourself? Anyway stay up the nice quality writing, it’s uncommon to look a nice weblog like this one today..
