Finding Vulnerability in Natalie Nicole Gilbert’s Newest Album `Recovery`

What has been on your playlist recently? What has captured your attention? One album that has captured my attention is Recovery by American Indie Pop artist Natalie Nicole Gilbert. A brilliant album that showcases the vulnerability of our lives. How so? Let’s take a closer look at the album down below.

Finding Ourselves

Natalie Nicole Gilbert’s 12-track album features the themes of honesty, vulnerability, and resilience with each track. The album touches on Gilbert’s personal experiences with physical recovery and trauma. She reflects on the universal process that everyone faces with recovery: loss and gains. Though the album showcases Gilbert’s personal experiences, listeners will find their own experiences and journeys within each song’s lyrics. Every emotion and motion on any personal journey is highlighted: faith, hope, sadness, happiness, reflection, courage, and perseveration. Gilbert brilliantly entwines these emotions to create an emotional story within the album.

There is also a little bit of everything in Recovery. Ballads, piano pop, acoustic, soul, rock, classical, electronic, and upbeat are some things found on this album. Gilbert features four personal-penned tracks and eight covers. And, I got excited to hear “Only Hope” (Gilbert’s version is fantastic) as it is one of my personal favorites.

Nevertheless, there are upbeat tracks like “All We Do”, “Say You’ll Be There”, and “Postcards” that are mixed in with soulful tracks like “Vanishing”. And then there are ballad pieces like “On Your Feet Again”, “Fix Yourself”, and “Lullaby (Goodbye My Angel)”. There is also a little touch of classical in the final track that listeners can’t miss out on! The multitude of genres blended in Recovery is outstanding as there is a little bit of everything.

Final Thoughts

Natalie Nicole Gilbert composes an emotional and open-hearted musical journey of recovery in her latest album. Honestly and vulnerability breathes to life in each track as Gilbert details the emotions dealing with this journey with her brilliant artistry and musicality. Recovery is gorgeous that is all so precious yet memorable to listen to as it shows a personal and emotional musical story that anyone can relate to. Yet, the singer-songwriter is able to tell this journey in a broad range of genres that appeal to a diverse number of listeners If there is one album you have to listen to in 2022, it has to be Recovery! It is just such a gorgeous album!
