Today’s Daily Feature is “Medicine Boy” by UK Indie Pop artist Natalie Shay. This is what the artist had to say about the tune:
The lyrics are written so that if I told you the whole song was about an addictive relationship, it would make sense. But if I also told you the whole song was about recreational drug use, every line would still make sense. The song captures the essence of a bittersweet relationship. I played with the idea that just because a relationship isn’t “good,” it doesn’t necessarily mean it’s totally unhealthy. I was very stuck in my own head and emotions at the time of writing, it was an uncertain time and I’d been doing a lot of thinking and growing up.Natalie Shay
What makes “Medicine Boy” the perfect summer anthem is in the instrumentation and the vocals. For the instrumentation, it features shimmery synth melodies that are animated with each colorful note. There are also funky guitar riffs, especially during the chorus. Their groovy vibes will instantly grab the listener’s attention as they help paint that warm summer vibe. Meanwhile, Shay’s vocals deliver a powerful punch with their crystal clear tones.
Shay’s new song also features catchy hooks throughout the song, especially at the chorus. Yet, the song also has a type of fun energy that makes the song light and bubbly. With its summer-like vibes, shimmery synth melodies, and crystal clear vocals, “Medicine Boy” is a must-listen for your summer!
