Pop-Rock Duo Rags and Riches Releases “Blood Runs Cold”: An Unique Tune With An Inspiring Message

What songs have been on your daily playlist recently?

Have you heard of this new tune by the American pop-rock duo Rags and Riches?

You will want to add their newest single, which is entitled “Blood Runs Cold”, to your daily playlist after reading my review! While you read, listen to the electrifying “Blood Runs Cold” below! Let me know what you think about the song in the comments!

“Blood Runs Cold”

“Blood Runs Cold’ is something we had been working on for quite some time, but it couldn’t have been more relevant for the times we are living in. Written from a teenager’s perspective who can’t seem to fit in anywhere. They find their niche and stand out by being true to who they are.

The unique perspective presented in the lyrics is such a relatable topic for me. Yes, the lyrics are written from the viewpoint of a teenager, which I haven’t been for a long time now. But, as an adult, it is sometimes hard to “stand out from the crowd” as you are sometimes told what to do by pressure brought on by either work, family, or even society. The message found in “Blood Runs Cold” can be for anyone of any age as it tells us to be ourselves and stand out by being unique.

This tune is also such an electrifying one with its upbeat tempo and distinctive melodies. From the very first note, you are introduced to its distinctive charm of the instrumentation. It has an interesting blend of light and dark tones in different synthesized styles. Yet, when you further listen to “Blood Runs Cold”, you can hear strands of an electric guitar blazing in certain sections like the final chorus. Of course, the upbeat tempo, which is played by a series of synthesizers, draws you into the peculiar melodies by each strong downbeat.

The mystifying yet particular melodies in the instruments and vocals are different from each other. But how Rags and Riches unite each part as one consistent tune is pretty amazing. This uniqueness yet united within the tune is an amazing feat and should be heard by many.

What Do You Think?

“Blood Runs Cold” is such a unique song with its distinctive melodies and a message that many can relate to. As I think back to the song’s message of being unique, I can’t help to think that the message is also emulated musically. This message is also found within the distinctive melodies, upbeat tempos (as you know, being upbeat is one key to being inspirational), and peculiar instrumentation. Rags and Riches blend these elements together effortlessly in “Blood Runs Cold” to create an inspirational tune that is a must-listen for any age!

  30. I love how Blood Runs Cold has a message for young people. My niece is 16 and struggles with understanding how she fits in. “I feel like a stranger in a social abyss” is a great line – I think we all feel that right now, with social media as our only outlet for mingling.
