It’s mid-April and we have about a month to go till the annual Eurovision contest. It will happen next month. Get excited! Though the contest was canceled last year and faces strict protocols due to the current pandemic, we can still enjoy this international contest from anywhere in the world.
Each day, I will feature a song from one of the countries that are in this year’s Eurovision. Like 2019, I will make my own predictions of who will make it to the finals and maybe win the competition. Good luck to those who are competing!
Rafal’s “The Ride”
RAFAL‘s “The Ride” is representing Poland in this year’s Eurovision. This 80s synth-pop has a really catchy beat. I really love the song. But, the big problem this song has no pizzazz factor to it, nothing that makes this song really stand out. It is something you can hear during a workout or during work, but as soon as it ends, you will forget about it because nothing about the song is memorable. I also think the vocals are really bland with the instrumentation outshining the vocals a little more.
Like I said above, I really love the instrumentation. I love the throwback to 80s with the synth-pop vibes. But, this song has no “wow” factor and is pretty bland. And because of this, I don’t think “The Ride” will riding along to the finals.
