The Road to Eurovision 2022: Systur (Iceland)

It’s April and we have less than 60 days till the annual Eurovision contest that will happen next month. Get excited! If you don’t know what Eurovision is, I wrote a detailed post about the contest a couple of years ago. I am back with my series “Road to Eurovision”, predicting who will win this year’s contest. Each day, I will feature a song from one of the countries. Then, I will make my own predictions of who will make it to the finals and win the competition. Good luck to those who are competing!

Systur’s “Með hækkandi sól” (With the rising sun)

Icelandic folk group Systur is representing Iceland in this year’s Eurovision with the song “Með hækkandi sól”. It is a beautiful folk tune with gorgeous layered vocals, cascading acoustic guitars, and haunting electric guitar riffs echoing throughout. I am a big sucker for great folk-rock songs (like Fleetwood Mac) and this one is a favorite. It is probably one of my favorite tunes in this year’s competition. Just melodically and musically, it is just a beautiful tune that will make it to the finals!

My Eurovision 2021 Predictions

Here are my predictions for this year’s contest. These are my own opinions and I am not getting paid or endorsed for them.

(Note: I changed my prediction for Intelligent Music Project after a week of thinking about the song. I think they will be going to the finals as the song grew on me.)
