The Weekly Roundup: 4 Pop Songs That Will Energize Your Week

Welcome to the second Weekly Roundup! This week, we will feature four wonderful pop songs!

What is “The Weekly Roundup”?

It is a bimonthly feature that will feature new songs from artists. But, each feature will have a theme to it. This week’s theme is pop, so I featured artists that have new singles in the pop genre (or close to it).

All I ask you to listen to each song. And if you like a particular artist, song, or maybe all them, I ask you to follow them on social media or even Spotify. You can also leave a comment on this post, telling me what song(s) you like. You might even get an response from the artists themselves!

So, without any further ado, here are my pop picks of the week!

“I Believed” by Laura Wyatt

“I Believed” is the first single from the album ‘Last Train Home’ – a positive, upbeat tune with a catchy hook. A song about self-belief and positive thinking.

Laura Wyatt is getting airplay on BBC Introducing in Suffolk and local radio where the song is already “track of the week” on multiple stations. Laura Wyatt is lined up to play at a number of festivals next year when things start going ahead again, and is due to support Matt Cardle again on his upcoming tour.

“Not My Mistake” by Lydia Briggs

Lydia Briggs, a thrilling, intensely emotive powerhouse singer, musician, and songwriter, announces her sixth single, “Not My Mistake.” Garnering hundreds of thousands of streams and views globally in her young career, Lydia is a proud, creative AWAL artist primed for her first breakout song.

Lydia scratched out the lyrics to Not My Mistake after a gig, in a bar bathroom, in 15 minutes following an emotional breakup. The result is a stripped-down, mid-tempo, alt-pop/soul song with her belting out what should have been said at the moment.

“This Says” by Luke James Williams

“This Says” is the new single from British indie/alt. folk singer-songwriter Luke James Williams. Recorded at Unit Studios in Hertfordshire UK, it was mixed by Alex Bush (Damien Jurado), mastered by Greg Calbi (The National, Julien Baker, Bon Iver) and features ‘Sing For Joy’; a Cambridgeshire based community choir that requires no audition to join.

Releasing his debut EP Drove in November 2018, Luke received huge support from BBC6 Music DJ Tom Robinson who made ‘Still In Bed’ his 6Music Recommends Track Of The Week in April 2019, later naming it his Track Of The Year So Far in July. The song was also played across the station by Lauren Laverne, Steve Lamacq, and Tom Ravenscroft. Elsewhere, Luke has received airplay from Amazing Radio and BBC Introducing and has been playlisted by the likes of Folk Radio UK and Hype Machine.

“Get Ready with Me (Remix)” with Lucky Iris

Lucky Iris is an Alternative pop (or Alt-pop) band from Leeds, England. The duo — Maeve and Jasper — formed in early April right before they released their debut EP. They released their debut EP, Turns Out We Should Have Stayed At Home, in April, and now back with a remix of “Get Ready With Me”.
