It is finally fall/autumn! A magical season that is filled with so many things: fleece jackets, pumpkin spice, sweet potatoes, Thanksgiving, and gorgeous autumn scenery.
But, we are missing the most important thing of all: HOT DRINKS!
Yes, ’tis the season for those warm, delicious drinks that fill your insides and soul with warmth. What are your favorite hot drinks? Mine is hot tea, especially chai from Starbucks or flavored tea. Tea is a wonderful drink as it beneficial to our health as we enter the cold and flu season.
If you don’t know the different types of hot drinks, don’t worry. This 80s’ song from a famous American fast food chain got you covered.
What Can I Get For You Today?
Fast food has been in the American culture since the 1950s. When there is a fast food restaurant, there are usually people behind the counter who greet the customers and serve them with love. Since a significant number of restaurants opened over the span of three decades (the 60s, the 70s, and the 80s), there was a great need for employees. But, a lingering question lingered in each companies’ headquarters: how could these companies train these employees effectively? Well, one company named Wendy’s came up with a creative plan. It was catchy yet straightforward: have a musical training video.
“Hot Drinks” was one musical piece that was used in Wendy’s training videos during the 1980s. The song was written and performed by an unknown singer at the time named Marvin Hawkins. There isn’t much information about Hawkins or how “Hot Drinks” came to be. Yet, the videos appeared on Youtube around 2010. The song, along with the other training video songs, also became a hot topic this year thanks to radio personality Brian Fink.
Hot Drinks, Really Get You Goin’!
From the moment it starts, the song has a particular effect on the listener. This R&B song makes the listener want to boogie and sing “hot drinks”. From the start, the instrumental can be labeled as being basic as it only contains a synthesizer and a bass. Yet, the beat is very catchy. That is all due to the groovy bass line. From that opening solo to the final note, the bass is performed with a lot of funk. It also features a unique sub-melody that has its own personality. You can hear a funky melody during the introduction. And then, a unique sub-melody during the chorus.
The lyrics are pretty catchy well. The way that Hawkins sings will put anyone who listens to “Hot Drinks” into the groove. With his stylish musical phrase, the procedures on how to make these hot drinks or learning the songs will come naturally to the listeners in no time.
My favorite part is the chorus. How Hawkins sings it, how he bobs his head back and forth, and only the lyrics makes me want to jam along and bob my head as well. As a customer, I would be super satisfied with Wendy’s services and products with the lyrics “Wendy’s we always serve it right away. Add a smile and have a nice day.” (Customers will also know that these lyrics are true too: “Hot Drinks, really get you goin’. Warms you up, when you feel you’re slowin'”.)
What do you think of “Hot Drinks”? Let me know below!
My Recommended Hot Drink For This Fall is…
I drink a lot of tea. I have at least two or three cups of hot or cold tea every day. I love tea especially if it’s flavored, milk, or chai. My go-to tea for the times when I am in a rush or need a place to work at is Starbuck’s Chai tea. I drink either from the store (but not every day) or making it for to-go with the Via packets. Soon, I will switch to the Kaldi version of chai for winter. (For who don’t know, Kaldi is a Japanese specialty store that has tons of coffee, tea, snacks, and food items from overseas. If I need a box of Mac ‘n’ Cheese, Kaldi usually has it. Mexican food items too.)
I also drink a chai hot chocolate combo that I received from a Reddit Santa last year. This warm drink that carries a small punch is made by an amazing organic tea company called Albion Tea Company. Having a cup of chai hot chocolate is perfect for a cold winter night. It’s filled with the perfect amount of spice and chocolate. The drink also melts perfectly in your mouth with hot milk.
Check out the chai hot chocolate and the other amazing teas that Albion Tea Company has to offer on their homepage.
this definitely my favorite and I love drinking hot chocolate on rainy days.
I’ve never heard of the song but it is pretty catchy!
Chai got chocolate sounds tasty! I love chai tea, I live in London so I wouldn’t know of that Wendy’s training video but it was funny for some reason. Maybe because of the era it was set in! Very creative post and I leant something new! Thanks for sharing!

Very creative way of sharing and getting your audience thinking about the hot drinks the love or want to try.
Hot apple cider is my favorite fall drink
I love tea!!
Ya know, I have never tried SB’s chai and I think I might this weekend!! Thanks for reminding me that even exists!!
Haha I loved how you connected Autumn and hot drinks with that video. Sadly I am not able to see the video! Will try later
Love this post! My fav hot drink is def either French vanilla coffee, or hot chocolate! Btw, the video — LOVE IT! Haha!
I go for camomile tea during this period. Will check out this chocolate, it sounds like a good substitute.
I love chai tea. But I also drink a lot of crappucino (mispelling intended) and hot cocoa. Sometimes I mix my cocoa with my crappucino for an extra kick.
I’m very average with my hot drink preference. I like a cup of hot chocolate with a dollop of cool whip on top. Uhg, Just talking about it makes me want to sit by my fire place on a snowy evening.
For us is the regular bulletproof coffee, with a shot of MCT.
I really love tea. Thanks for sharing ♥
I have always loved hot beverages! Hot coffee is my favourite!
Tea and coffee lover here…..i prefer Starbucks in a packet…. They do have collections from around the world….. And sometimes Davidoff will do…..
Autumn is mystical I love its aura. But my fondness for tea goes for whole year.
That video is such a great find. I live your suggestion of Chai hot chocolate, I’ll have to try it.
I love Fall! It’s such a magical time to experience nature. I’ll totally go with hot chocolate and cookies this season!
I love chai-tea, specially masala chai and tulsi flavoured chai are my favorite. I can have tea any time of the day.
I don;t drink tea but Chai hot chocolate looks great suggestion to drink in fall season 🙂
A good cup of Indian Chai is absolutely wonderful during winters. We drink it a lot all through the year though.
I need a hot drink when I write on my blog, it just gives me that extra boost I need to get going. I’m a big tea drinker but my favourite is a good quality fair trade hot chocolate! You can’t go wrong with that.
I just had two glasses of hot chocolate today! Almost 3 dollars per glass. I love Fall because of the colors but at the same time it gets too cold!
Definitely hot chocolate or coffee to help me get through a rough day or just cozying up after a long day!
I wish there’s also Fall weather here. Hehe. I love tea to warm up, green or black. I also like hot chocolate depending on the mood. Great post! 🙂
I definitely would drink tea in Autumn.
Haha I’m a big believer in learning things by putting it to music (I can still remember some of the chemistry calculations I had to learn in high school because I put them to music! Haha). As for hot drinks, I’d have to choose a hot chocolate as the one that really puts a smile on my face and makes me feel cosy #blogcrush
I really love tea in this weather, as well! And not a hot drink, but I can’t think of anything better than soup on an autumn day. 🙂
I never thought Wendy’s would have training videos, how awesome can that be? Anyway, I really love music and most of the time I listen to music whenever I am doing something, it just sets the mood and powers me up!
I am a chai drinker myself. It’s a great drink for winter days. The chai with chocolate variant sounds interesting.
